This is Italian buttercream recipe- so it is regular sugar!

Not sure how this hasn’t been reviewed yet! These are amazing for any chocolate lover. They are very rich and thick which is so perfect for cake pops. The brownie recipe alone was very thick and indulgent. In the freezer they have a smooth truffle like consistency. Love this recipe!

I hadn’t baked a cake from scratch in probably 15 years.
I made this cake for my mother’s 92nd birthday. It was a hit. Loved the lemon curd. Will make it again.

Comment on Which Buttercream Is Best? by Lindsay Nathanson https://www.sprinklesforbreakfast.com/which-buttercream-is-best/comment-page-1/#comment-3210 Wed, 20 Dec 2023 23:46:55 +0000 https://www.sprinklesforbreakfast.com/?p=1881#comment-3210 In reply to Wayne.

It definitely sounds like a challenge, but you got this! I believe in you! I am definitely not an expert at 3D cake designs, but really any buttercream will work as you are using it as glue for the cake pieces and it will all be under the fondant. Personally, I would go with the American buttercream since it is the easiest/fastest to make (but again, I am not an expert). Here is a great article that might be more helpful: https://www.instructables.com/How-to-Sculpt-a-Cake-Into-Anything/ and of course, good luck!

Ok so I am attempting a very daunting challenge, I am doing 3 carved cakes(I have NEVER in my life tried anything like this and this will be only my 2nd time using fondant), a)- what advice can you give(other that stop and run away)/, b)- which buttercream would be best? and c)- us men are jerks(just ask my wife)!
Incase you are wondering….one cake will be a Snow Globe cake, another will be Cindy Lou Who’s house with the Grinch going down chimney and the third is actually 2 cakes, Frosty with Olaf and titling it “Grandfather & Grandson”. I will be doing this for an episode on my show titled “Nail it or Fail it”.

You can definitely make it the day before and cover it with plastic wrap and keep it in the fridge. But I would wait to add the crumbles until the day you serve it!
